Why Am I So Giddy?

I am a Pastry Chef and Chef/Owner of Giddy Sweet & Savory, a small event catering company in Asheville, NC. I am a Food Blogger, a food lover, an Airbnb Superhost, a crafter, a renovator and more. I love it all. In fact, it is safe to say that I am giddy about what I do.

The Path Of My Journey:

A lifetime ago I entered a Passionate Chef contest in Chicago. I entered on a Tuesday, cooked a three-course menu for the judges on Wednesday and won a scholarship to the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) on Friday. In one very short week my life changed. Goes to show that you just never know what life brings you! During my time at the CIA, I concentrated specifically in Pastry and served my internship with a very well-known Pastry Chef at the Ritz-Carlton in Chicago. After graduation, I moved to New York City and worked for well-known venues such Gramercy Tavern, Bouley and the Marquis in Times Square. What a great experience to work in NYC, to cook at the James Beard House, and contribute to numerous celebrity dinners and events.

As my journey continues, I was fortunate that my career opportunities led me back to Chicago - a city I love! After many years working as an Executive Pastry Chef at a large hotel on the Magnificent Mile, I grabbed the opportunity to be the Pastry Chef at the Inn on Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina. What a wonderful experience to work on so many fun events for guests visiting this amazing estate.

Time to Get Giddy:

Like many chefs before me, I was ready to strike out on my own and started my own business in 2022. Giddy Sweet & Savory is the excitement of sharing wonderful food. With over 22 years of experience, it is exciting to share my passion, experience and love of food with others. Whether it is creating a wedding cake or catering a small event I have a lot to get Giddy about!
